As well as races, we organise a number social events during the course of the year. Sometimes these are combined with rides; sometimes they are purely social so that partners and families can join in.
The best place to find out what is happening is on our forum, where you can of course make your own suggestions and requests.
Annual Club Dinner
The main formal social event is the Annual Club Dinner, which provides an opportunity for members and their partners to relax and chat. It is also the occasion on which the club prizes and trophies are presented.
This year will be our 130th Anniversary Celebration Dinner, and like last year's it will be held at Broughton Park Rugby Club. Details for this year have yet to be finalised, but last year we had live music, and our guest speaker was former England footballer and leukaemia research campaigner, Geoff Thomas. There were reception drinks and canapés upon arrival, with the main part of the evening starting at 7pm, and carrying on until well after midnight.
Informal Social Events
We usually base our informal social events around a topic (club runs and racing are perennial favourites) and these are usually held in a city centre pub. Our current favourite is the Wharf in Castlefield.
Club Events
Although not socials as such, the club events are a great place to meet everyone for a chat and to catch up. You can find out more about the Club Events on the events page.
Christmas Ride and Lunch
Each year there is a Christmas ride which is timed to coincide with a trip to the M&DTTA Christmas 10 mile time trial.
Trips

We have also organised lots of trips away to ride, race or watch events both in the UK and abroad. In 2008 a group of 20 of us went cycling in Mallorca in March, weekends away mountain biking and competing in mountain mayhem and in November we went to Ghent to watch the six day and a national cyclo-cross event. In 2009 we had 22 riding in Tuscany for a week in March, a B&B weekend to Hawes, Mountain biking in Swaledale and several members competing in the Etape and Duo Normand.
Suggestions
Many of the club members are keen to meet up for social events more often so if you have any ideas for club social events or would be willing to organise something, please let us know.
