During the winter we generally have a Saturday chain gang and at least one Sunday ride, most leaving from Didsbury. During the racing season we continue the weekend rides where possible and we also have some weeknight training sessions. All of our rides are dependent on members being available to lead them so always check the ride list for the latest details.
Intro rides
There will be an intro ride of a maximum 35 miles on the 1st Sunday of each month with an average speed of around 15 mph. Anyone coming out on these rides should be fit enough to comfortably complete the ride on a suitable road bike and you must bring spares to fix a puncture. While we like to be as inclusive as possible, if you are inadequately prepared the ride leader may have to turn you away. There will be a short briefing at the start of the ride so please ask any questions if you are unsure of anything. The idea of these rides is to introduce riders into riding as a group so that they can quickly move on to longer rides as their fitness improves.
Also a note for faster members of the club : if you want to go along on an intro ride please try and help the ride leader and don't try and race or push up the pace. There are plenty of other rides for showing off!
Sunday club runs
There will be a series of Sunday rides of around 70 miles starting at 9 or 9.30am from either Manchester centre (Hilton Hotel) or Didsbury (The Gateway). There will generally be a cafe stop specified so that other riders can make their own way there if they want to do a longer or shorter route. We will run these throughout the year whenever we have a volunteer to lead the ride. These rides are good training for those doing sportives and for base miles and recovery for racers.
Intermediate rides
Where possible we will provide regular intermediate rides of around 50 miles. They will be slower than a club run but quicker than an intro ride.
Midweek and Saturday rides
These are organised and added to the ride list by our members on an ad hoc basis. Please take along lights for any mid week rides.
Womens rides
Rides aimed at women riders. Generally around 3 hours at a steady pace including some hills.
Winter Chaingangs
We run a series of chaingang sessions on Saturday mornings from October till March as preparation for road racing. If you want any more information, please check the chain gang page.
