For everyone that has been asking about the club events, the information and entry forms are now available:

www.manchesterwheelers.co.uk/events/club-events/

If you download those documents that should tell you everything you need to know. I'll add to this section with a course map etc nearer the time but if you have any other questions, post here or contact John Dawson.

As you will know by now, the 1st Club Event of the season will be held on the usual course at Lower Wthington at 7.00pm, 16th April 2009. The HQ is the Red Lion, which is adjacent to the Village Green. The Organiser (me), the Timekeeper, the Assistant Organiser and one or two Marshals and helpers are already in place. However, we can never be complacent with regards helpers. Therefore, I would ask, if there are any Club members, possibly newer members (older ones are not barred), who are not entered in the series and would fancy coming out to assist in some small way for an hour or so, please reply to this Post. We do not have Club meetings as such during the season and these fortnightly events give members a great chance to get to meet other members and to sample the great camaraderie which exists within the Club. Cheers John.

Re Viv's post above. The very last date for acceptance of entries is Friday next 10th April, if you want a handicap for the event on 16th April.
Entries are acceptable on the line as Scratch riders, but the maximum number allowed will be 40 riders. Do wish to chance that the event will be full?

I'm not sure about that, I've just got back from a ride round Goostrey/Lower Withington and the wind was brutal, why is it always a head wind???

I asked that on Saturday, at least the 10 course doesn't involve the 3 climbs to the finish of J2/9. Also anyone up for J2/1 tomorrow?

Club Event 2nd July. Just to let you know that 17 non starters missed a PB night last night. Of the 15 riders who faced the starter, 3 were Guests, 2 were John Brown and Anna Lupton and 10 were Handicap entrants. There were 5 Pbs amongst those. John Brown did 23.58, stating that it was the hardest thing he had ever done on a bike; Anna celebrated being picked for the World Mountain Running Team with a 29.48 in her first 10. You will remember she won the women's 3 Peaks earlier in the year (minus the bike). The result will appear on the website tomorrow, the signs are that the new Leader of the Handicap Championship is Mike Cleary with 40 points. Second is Anthony Blair with 38 points and Third is Rachel Shepherd with 36 points, in spite of missing the last two events. Rachel is amongst the Quartet representing us in the M&D "Hundred" on Sunday.
The points totals are now up to date with the Duks' 25 result now having been received.

Bimey, good times for Anna and John! I think John achieved that time even through riding most of it on the hoods too! Good effort!

Jerry, I heard a rumour that you might be 'washing your hair' on the evening of the hill climb!? Hope not, I'm looking forward to a John/Jerry rematch!

Nice one. Well done Mike C, better start making room for that trophy! Great to hear Anna and John made an appearance too, shame to miss that.
I hear Becks did a very short 27 too, maybe those gnarly courses suit you - thats way better than i ever go round there. Good work.

Looking forward to the John and Jerry rematch up the cat and fiddle too though there may well be some other contenders this year. Will hub? Ant? Who else fancies their chances?

Can you ride these as a 2nd claim? I would love to have another hill match up against Jerry! I may even ride my light bike for that one ;-)

Oh yeah! Forgot you were a member now Si. This could be fun!

You can definately ride it, just need to check the rules for winning the hill climb trophy - first claimers only i would think but we'll have to consult the rule book.
