We have been thinking about races for the year and it would be really nice to see some more wheelers women out there. We had a members meeting last monday to chat about the season which was really useful but there weren't any other women there so I thought i would send round a few suggestions to start you thinking. There is loads going on so if you want to race and are interested in finding out more just let me know and ill arrange a get together.
CLUB 10S The club 10s start late april and are fortnightly on thursdays in lower withington. More info on these coming soon.
MDLCA The MDLCA are manchester district events with specific ladies prizes. For the invitation events they combine your time with whoever you invite to ride (male or female) and the fastest combined time wins. Sarah Storey kept beating us to first place last year but they are really nice friendly events... - Saturday 25th April - J2/1 - 10 miles (invitation) - 16:00 - Saturday 16th May - J2/1 - 10 miles - 14:00 - Saturday 23rd May - J2/9 - 25 miles - 14:00 - Saturday 13th June - J2/1 - 10 miles (invitation) - 17:00 - Saturday 27th June - J2/9 - 25 miles - 14:00 - Saturday 18th July - J4/16 - 50 miles - 17:00
TEAM TTS Team time trials are a really good way to get more of a team feel from racing against the clock. They are generally in 2s or 4s. Becks and I did the first one of the season on saturday and it would be great to see some more pairs entered. The J courses are the local ones and I definately wasnt to get at least one womens team into the 4up (***) so try and keep the date free... - 05/04/2009 J8/2R 17m Crewe Clarion Whs CC TTT - 12/04/2009 D25/8 25m Mid Shropshire Whs TTT - 18/04/2009 V910 10m Ravensthorpe CC TTT - 17/06/2009 J2/9 25m Wills Wheels CC 2up * - 25/06/2009 J2/9 25m Warrington RC 4up (***) - 05/07/2009 E2/36 36m RTTC National Championship 3up - 22/07/2009 J2/1 10m Wills Wheels CC 2up
RUDY PROJECT The rudy project series tend to be hillier and prettier courses than your average TT. These are two we are thinking of doing this year... - L152 (Bassenthwait Lake, Lake District) 15mile one on the 12th April - T264 (Middleton Tyas, between Richmond and Darlington) 26mile one on 10th May
Not everyone wants to race or do time trials but thought id start a discussion and see who was interested. Some of you might want to try the club 10s first but we have some strong female riders in the club now so there is no reason why we couldn't make a real impact if we geta bit organised. I know a couple of people want to try road racing so the weeknight TLI races are probably the best place to start for those. Again, post here or let me know and i can put you in touch with the right people in the club if you want to know more about those events.

Hi, Sorry i didnt make the meeting on monday, seems i missed a lot of useful stuff... Im still interested in doing some racing (nothing too hardcore!) but for the moment lack the bike to do it with. I have my beady eyes on one though, question of finding the funds.. But yeah, I think itd be great to have something competitive to focus on, give me a motivational kick up the backside.

Hi Helen,
There's really no need to wait for a new bike to race on - I did a couple of TT's last year on my too-big-for-me-and-falling-apart training bike. This year, whilst I have a much nicer road bike to race on, I still don't have a TT bike. Come along - the more the merrier!

nice events !
swap your cross-tyres for some a bit skinnier, but you don't need a special bike to get started Helen - honestly !

I guess i could use the cross bike and just switch the tyres. Might look a bit odd but nevermind I think the minimum the wheels will take is a 25mm. I could be wrong about this. Got to be better than the current 32s though!
