Ok, the wheelers registration is complete and anyone wishing to enter an event can do so using the following link :
http://www.cdnw.org/road_race_league.html
It costs £10 to register with the league and each race is £17.50 to enter. There is an additional 6.5% charge for mandatory use of the online service. This is in addtion to your BC membership and racing license.
With costs being up again ( justifiably fuel costs ,expenses for the officials, cost of living etc) this year can I suggest that we co-oridinate entries and share lifts wherever possible to events. If you do enter an event and intend to travel by car please post up here and consider offering a lift to others. I've been taxi driver for a number of years now and its always good to have a passenger on those early morning trips and sunblazed suanter home.
So to start things off, I'm entered in both of the 1st couple of events. Pimbo - and Saighton. Both relativley flat and good early season leg stretchers..
Any questions post away !

Was also thinking of a Saighton as well.
Was also thinking of entering the following (see attached). As I don't have a car looking for a lift, happy to contribute petrol, bad jokes, banter about footy results, latest films and general race reviews.

I'm doing Pimbo and Saighton as well. I haven't thought about transport! I may have a lift but if that doesn't happen I do have a car that can take me and another. I'll let you know Matt if I'm driving

Good Mixture there Matt..to be honest if you can enter the 3rd at CDNW at Cockermouth it would stand you in good stead for the hell of Capernwray and Old Hutton.
Also - Note to all - get an Entry in for this

2 1/2 hours of Kirby Pan flat Kermesse Action - ran off at something daft like 27mph average last year..

What don't kill ya only makes you stronger. About time some of you young racers learnt the art of suffering and dogged determination.

Rothers/Si, which races should I enter? I should do the one at Cockermouth as I can pop home for that one, and I want to do more of my races later in the year as I've not really had the winter I was hoing for so need another couple of months to get up to some sort of speed. I was thinking on the one hand I go up hills well, but on the other hand a flat race would be easier to hang onto if I was out of my depth - thoughts?

Don't get me started on that! I had a lot to say about it and rightly we now have a new kit. Lets just say I wasn't disappointed when I trashed that kit last year!

Ah the tactical lassoo cable! Sounds like it worked! But no, it wasn't me. Wish I'd thought of it though, could of got myself a free ride or hauled Mr Bethell back in line!

Matt, Rob, Tom - I am thinking of doing Saighton. I have car and a triple bike rack so can take two others...
Have you guys entered yet? Did you have to get your silver membership and race licence sorted before you were able to enter online??

1st thing you need is your BC License number. 2nd - register as a rider on CDNW - you need to offer to marshall at an event - choose ours great budworth if you are available on that date. 3 When CDNW membership is confirmed enter the events. The capacity of Pimbo is 80 and saighton is 60. get them in quick....
Paul - will give you a call this evening.

Ah, Saighton appears to be full according to the website but it does mention the possibility of 'entry on the line' places being available on the day...
Anyone know if it's worth going down and taking a punt?

I'm old and my memory is going but we covered part of the circuit when we went up B&Bing at the back end of last year. It's fast one way and grippy the other, unless you get the wind in the wrong direction then it's a slog one way and grippy the other. Certainly a circuit to lean the skill of positioning in the bunch but the roads are quite straight so escapes can been seen a long way up the road. War of attrition with a small group contesting the finish where you need a good sprint.

I'd go with that assesment. Positioning is Key in it. Some Dumbo managed to fall off jockeying to get to the front in the 1st prime last year and i ended up sat behind them as it all went off . Spent the next 4 miles chasing into with a cross wind and got the gap down to 100 metres at the turn put then the hammer went down on the grippy rolling section and it was an early bath.
Paul - I think you might be best giving something like Pimbo or one of the 4th cat only races a go first so you are prepared for cockermouth. Its a proper hard honest circuit and one that im determined to give a good go out on this year.

You'll need to be there at 8am and sign on as 1st reserve - not many drop out - maybe 10 % so 5 or 6 riders. Sometimes they can be generous - they used to say that they never turned a rider away
You could ride the national A with the big boys if you win at Pimbo!

Thanks, I know the Cockermouth Circuit very well as I went to Cockermouth School and have run/ridden on those roads loads, I really meant which of the other races should I do as I'll either do that one or not do that one depending on whether I'm at home that weekend? On the hilly circuits do the races tend to split up into small groups, or are they not that hilly?

Without wanting to sound disrespectful i'd suggest trying some of the 4th cat only crits 1st and maybe pimbo. You need to learn how to race safely firstly, survival is a secondary consideration. People forget that the base entry level of fitness is much higher than in other sports. Really depends on the make up of the race and the conditions... Small early breaks tend to stay away as in 3/4 racing nobody wants to chase!
Best suggestion would be to come down to the chainy on saturday morning and we can give you an idea then..
