I was thinking of another women's get together next week to make more plans for rides and some events to target. Seemed a success last time. How about next Tuesday from 7 in a city centre pub, can start at 8, just have a chat and catch up till then give others time to come from work.
If you've got any events in mind bring along details and tell everyone about it. Would be good to pick 2 or 3 sportives or challenge rides to do together aswell as any races people do.
Also be ready to put your name down to lead a ride if you can, worked well last time getting things started that way.
Spread the word, bring your friends. edited by viv on 11/01/2012

There's a Wheelers social to talk about rides on Monday 16th so i'm going to suggest Tuesday 24th for a women's get together. Does that sound ok? Ill send out an email to the womens mailing list.
Hopefully people will bring information for events like the ashton circuit races and sportives they want to do. I'll bring any info i can find on these as i'm planning to do some...

So...
Tuesday 24th January Sandbar, 120 Grosvenot Street, M1 7HL From 7pm for an 8pm start
We will be there from 7ish to chat about what everyone has been up to and what people are hoping to do this year. At around 8 we will go through an informal agenda something like this... - Suggestions for events to do - if anyone has an event in mind please bring dates and details to share with the group - Organise a rides list up until April - bring your diaries and we will try and co-ordinate a good mix of rides for all abilities - Any other suggestions or questions
You're welcome to bring anyone along especially if you think they might be interested in joining or getting involved. Spread the word.

Thanks for this Viv, I'll make it to either the general meet up or the womens one but probably not both unfortunately.

A small but quality group of Wheelers women turned up tonight to make plans for the next few months. There was a limit to what we could organise between the 6 of us but we have made a start. Items in red we need your help with.
Rides
We would like to have a womens ride once a month thats a fairly easy social ride aimed at women new to the club. Along the same lines as a club intro ride - fairly flat, 40 miles ish and steady pace. Men can come along but the purpose is to give women the confidence to give the club a try. We need an organiser for Feb, March, April & May. Just pick a date, time and place for now - we can help with routes later.
We would also like to organise at least one, ideally more, intermediate rides a month. They will be open to all but led by one of us, again to encourage other women to come out and not be intimidated. We arranged a couple for Feb and one in early March so far but please check dates you can do and add more.
There are also womens training sessions at the Ashton circuit on Mondays nights starting 20th Feb for 5 weeks. See this thread for more details & to ask questions: http://www.manchesterwheelers.co.uk/forum/topic3256-tameside--womens-training-2012.aspx
Calendar
We talked about lots of ideas for events and racing, more details to come but here are a few key events we are planning to do: - 12th Feb Intermediate hilly ride (Viv to confirm) - 19th Feb Intermediate hilly ride (Julia to confirm) - 4th March Sportive prep ride including winnats (Cathy to confirm) - 25th March Cheshire Cat Sportive : http://www.kilotogo.com/index.php?option=event_detail&event_id=31 - 8th April : Pendle witches vintage velo : http://www.pendlewitchesvintagevelo.co.uk/index.html - 22nd April - Intermediate hilly ride (Viv to confirm - pos trough of bowland or dales) - 28th April - Team Townend memorial ride (Northern Lakes) - May - Audax or challenge ride TBC Any ideas? - 3rd June - Le Terrier Sportive : http://www.le-terrier.co.uk/ - 17th June - Polka Dot Sportive : http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/77051/Polka-Dot-Challenge-Sportive - June date TBC - LEJOG ride - join part or all of Cathys ride from south to north UK!
Races
Dates for the club and MDLCA events are still being confirmed but here are some events we will be doing: - Club time trials on a Monday or Thursday night through the summer in Cheshire - details TBC : http://www.manchesterwheelers.co.uk/events/club-events/index.htm - Ladies time trials on Saturday afternoons in Cheshire - details TBC : http://www.mdlca.org.uk/ - Lakes and lancs SPOCO (hilly) time trial series : http://www.manchesterwheelers.co.uk/forum/topic3389-lakes-and-lancs-spoco.aspx - Womens circuit and road races Helen W to update as details become available
What Next
It would be good to plan another social in May/June to make more plans for summer rides and events. Can someone else organise this next one nearer the time please. edited by viv on 25/01/2012 edited by viv on 25/01/2012
