So, in the current conditions what are people wearing on long rides? Coated bibtights or just thermal ones?
Any recommendations for (very) budget-conscious buyers?

I personally don't think you can go far wrong with the DHB stuff. I have some of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-pace-roubaix-padded-bib-tight/ and find them warm enough down to about 0c. I was even using them last Dec when temps were down to -7c. At £40 quid it doesn't get more budget friendly than that. Pay attention to the sizing chart though. I'm normally a medium but found that a size small was just right.

Hi, agree with Tony on that one. Wore the DHB Roubaix padded bibtights on the ride today. It was coldish, wet and windy and they were fine, a bargain at the price.

My windstopper softshell tights are gore ones, from a sale. They were about 60 quid. Racescene did some briko bibs in that roubaix fleece, which are v warm, and cheap. Either.
