Christmas Ride and Lunch 2011
Sunday 11th December

'Tis time again for a Christmas rhyme
About tinsel, puddings and eating turkey in its prime
Combine it with the time trial cycling event
It’s time for the Wheelers Christmas Lunch and all its content!

The Egerton Arms is again the Christmasy destination
So please get in touch with menu choices and payment without hesitation
Dress yourself and your bike in some fancy dress or Christmas garb
And work off some of your winter lard

Mudguards or not, I care not a jot
Santa, Blitzen and Frosty we’ll have the lot
So come and celebrate Christmas with a smile
And get in a few extra winter miles

I only want payment for the meal
I don’t want money for the time trial turnings of your wheel(s)
So please get in touch A-SAP
And don’t forget your special Santa hat!

As last few years we’ll ride out to the Christmas 10 HQ (TBC - Goostrey last year). Watch/ ride/ drink tea. We’ll then ride back up to Egerton Arms at Chelford for lunch around 2-2.30pm. Or you can just meet for the lunch at the pub if preferred, think we had about half and half do each last year.

The 10 is a CTT event so needs to be entered on CTT entry form in advance, there is a fancy dress and normal event.

Fancy dress for the ride is heavily encouraged.

Price is £16.50 for two courses as chosen from below. Also, we can pre order and pay for our first round of drinks which might make things slightly less chaotic when we arrive! Please see costs for drinks below.

Please send payment to me before Friday 2nd December and I’ll pay pub in advance. Cheque (payable to Egerton Arms), cash or bank transfer! Email or pm me for my address and details.

Places are limited so get in touch soon.

Gutted to be missing this! Got committments I can't get out of I'm afraid. The fancy dress could have been a good excuse for a poor first time 10mile tt time too...!

Really sorry I'm going to miss out this year, always a great event. Guess the Raleigh Chopper Mk2 is going to have to wait until next year

Definitely me please. I think jerrys flight gets back on 10th so not sure if he'll be awake, ill check.

If we do this what could be the fancy dress theme this year? There were a lot of gnomes last time so we need to stay well away from that but could be a laugh to do something.
I enjoyed the odd looks last year riding around with Miles carrying half the hoover on his back.

If this doesn't take off this year it's not a problem but was good fun in past years. Any other suggestions welcome.

What time do proceedings kick off? Me and Quinnie are out on an all dayer on the Saturday, so we may struggle if its an early start!

Ride out from Gateway probably around 9-9.30am depending on who is doing TT, is riding out and first time off I guess. But as long as you know where HQ is and where pub is for 2 can met up at another point once the fog clears in your heads!

Not interested in the lunch - too pricey - but happy to help marshall if you require: PM me.
Otherwise I'll spectate.

Right nobody who is going for lunch is doing the race so don't see the point in heading out so early if you all agree? However, Sam and Will Mansfield are racing, off just after 12.30 so does anyone fancy going out for then to give them a shout?

Is anyone actually riding out?! If so meet at Gateway at 11.30

Someone post up what your thoughts are.

Hi Miles,

yeah I agree with not going too early, especially given that the weather doesn't look great for standing around. 11.30 sounds good.

Cheers
