Am looking at getting an indoor trainer but have no previous experience in this department. Any advice as to models or things I should both look for and avoid?

Happy to consider turbo and rollers...

Not very experienced on these matters but I was advised to go for fluid over magnetic and mine has been fine for my needs.

If I was buying again I would probably go for one with an 'elastogel' roller as its 'sposed to be quieter and less tyre wear.

Andy,Like James I don't have much experience on these items of torture.I have been using a Cyclops Jet Fluid pro,it seems to be ok,fairly quiet and stable. One nice thing I like about it is it folds up fairly small.
Looked at getting some rollers, but went for a Turbo instead as would probally come off them and have a head on with the TV.

I have two sets of turbos with resistance... and i find them excellent ... as for rollers they are good for spinnig or warming up before a ride
as they do nt have a resistance , but they have just introduced a set of rollers with a built in resistance.... i use a set of £55 turbos
which do the job for me ...

Andy, I've had a set of rollers for a few months now and found them great once I got to grips with them. Tricky at first (fell off a few times) but once I got used to them they're good. Not tried a turbo so can't comment on that. Rollers improve your bike handlng apparently as you have to concentrate more so turbos seem the easier to live with option

The big difference between now and then is that I have to train hard to be this crap, back then it came natural.
