I know that wheelers are linked to a bike shop, but for those of you can get to the North side Surosa in Oldham is a good shop for ladies bikes.

I am 5'3" and have a normal length body but short legs, which can make buying a bike tricky.

My new winter bike is from Surosa.

If you're a bit taller than me they do small men's frames of their own build.

if you're more my height they do raleigh bikes that have good clearance for real mudguards.

The other thing about Surosa that's good is Mandy who co-owns it still rides and is an ex-World champ-she's the only woman in a bike shop I have ever met who knows exactly what you need for gear and she is average height.

all the best Julia

That will no doubt be Mandy Jones who I saw win that world title at Goodwood in 1982, the same weekend when Greg Lemond won the professional title.

That's right Ken. Her shirt is hung up on the wall of the shop. Then she was a one off-now it's great that so many GB men and women are competing at the top level. She's great to talk to, when I was there she was fixing up a nine year old with her first proper bike for Christmas and me with my winter one.
