With christmas fast approaching and working part time in retail my weekend riding is going to be very limited until January.
I plan to get my longer ride of the week during Monday day time and was just wondering if there were any wheelers available who may be interested in coming along. The rides will depart from the gateway at 9am, be around 70 miles in length with an avg speed of 17/18mph with no cafe stop.
Tomorrow's ride will depart around 12 but everything thereafter with be 9am. Should make for a good 6-7 week winter base training.
I do realise most guys are 9-5ers but there must be a few other students out there!

Tom,

I work random days and occasional weekends so mid week rides are often my only option outside sitting on my turbo in the garage and listening to Talksport! I'd be very interested in joining you but wouldn't be able to let you know much earlier than four or five days before. This week is out (did 60+ miles this morning) but future Mondays may be an option now I know what you planning. If it's okay with you I'll PM you perhaps later in the week when I get my work rota for the following week.

Tom, If my shift pattern allows I should be able to get out on some Mondays. Keep us informed via the forum and will try and get out.

I too work random shifts so would definitely be up for this. Can't do tomorrow however as I need to be back in bed for around 12/1 in the afternoon as I'm on nights this week but subsequent Mondays would be great for me.

Being Freelance I could probably make some too. I probably won't know until the day before though.
Keep posting them up and I'll see you if I see you!

Cheers for the responses guys didn't expect that many!
I will start posting them up in the rides list on a weekly basis but will try and get more of them confirmed in advance asap.
Look forward to seeing you out.

Sounds like a great idea Tom, but annoyingly i'm one of those '9-5ers'...boohiss :-(

However, with 25 days holiday a year....I could take off every other Monday ;-)

Updated the rides list as promised. Unless anything unforeseeable happens they all should happen

Tom, I'm really sorry but I missed the RV at 9am arriving at 9.07am. I set off at 8.15 for what in normal circumstances should be a 15 minute ride......however......I abandoned the car in Northenden at 8.50am, threw all my stuff together and pegged it to the Gateway but missed you. I ended up doing 60 miles but we obviously used different roads.

I should be okay for next Monday as I only need to be in Crewe for 3.30pm, so as long as I'm back in time I should be able to get the ride in.......probably ride to the Gateway though!

Tom obviously isn't aware of WMT (Wheelers Mean Time)
This dictates that no ride can leave the Gateway within 20 minutes of it's allotted start time!

On a positive note, I could be good for next Monday.

Looks like you took a wrong turning at the gateway - you need to be getting up in them hills burning off all that xmas lard and beer you have yet to consume!

I'm confused now! Definitely nobody on the car park that I could see...although I was still cursing Monday morning rush hour traffic at that point so maybe the red mist didn't help!

I'll be there Monday but hopefully see you on Saturday if you're going.

Did I say you were fat ? Nope - just advice that you need to be getting up in them hills as thats where stickleggers like you need to graze through winter

I know rothers was just having a bit of a bant!

My plan was to have a big focus on longer aerobic rides supplemented with longer length intervals until the new year when things start get short and painful.

I'll maybe lead a couple into the hills should the weather/others agree!

Is the `Flat' designation for this Monday's ride still accurate? If so I will be coming along - weather permitting! :/
