I think that's 7th September i.e. next tuesday, not December.
I was intending to race this one and any others necessary in the pursuit of points, but I will make myself available to Marshall something else, probably the cross race.
Another good show from the Wheelers on Tuesday night with 3 placing in the Top 10.

Hopefully a few new faces to marshall next week?

+1 I suppose, was hoping to try and race one of these before the end of the season but looking unlikely
Anyone who regularly helps out at events but doesn't necessarily want to race may want to consider doing the Assistant Commissairing course next time British Cycling run it in the North West. It means we would have a few extra bodies for doing the judging in crits/road races we organise (which is one area where the Ashton crits have been short of people this year)
The course is free (save for your time), no previous experience necessary (as I have shown!), it also means if you want to do more of it you can get involved commissairing road races. Equally if you only do assistant comm duties a couple of times a year for Wheelers races it would still be beneficial to help share the jobs we need to do when down to organise an event (especially over the summer months when things get stretched because there are a lot of events and lots of people away on hols etc).
The Wheelers have had a good presence at the crits this year and it has been profitable for many BC pointswise, so no doubt those that have benefitted will show their appreciation by helping out at what is only one of what has been a summer long programme of races. For anyone who hasn't been down before, it's a good place to come and see what crit racing is all about (whilst stood marshalling by the hairpin )

Count me in. What time do I need to get there? I can be there from 5.30 onwards depending on traffic out of Manchester.
Oh and where is the place ...

Thanks to all ! We start signing on from around 6 with the 1st race at 6.15 / 6.30.
With the nights drawing in we'll be finishing under the floodlights so we'll need marshalls at both ends for the main race.
Mark - easiest way is to head towards Ikea in ashton then take the left at the lights just before :

Big Thanks to Mark L ( King of the bike checks ) and Mike C for coming down last night. Despite the early showers we still had more than 50 riders at the event, including the riding debut of a certain former presidents son - would you be'leigh've it young Andrew would have picked up points in his first race had he applied for a bc licence- more competition for Max and Sam maybe ? The floodlights came into their own and whilst it was not perfect for judging the feedback from those riding was that it was safe even at speed.
There are 3 more events to go with the official opening of the circuit being held on the 22nd September with members of the co funders British cycling and Tameside council in attendance - also rumours of a couple of Sky Pro's making it down too. Once i have more details i'll post them up on here.
On a seperate note can i just thank everyone who has made it down to Ashton during the year. We've had some great results from our own riders who've shown great improvements during the year, and i've been even more proud of those taking the time out to come down and marshall / bike check / assist with running the events. The series really has taken off in terms of numbers and I can only hope next year brings more of the same.
Thanks again!

Great to hear it went well again. Think its a good time to big up Nick and Rothers who have put a lot of effort in doing the commissionaires course and making these events happen. Its a pretty big deal and the fact its already so popular is something to be really proud of.
Definitely need a round up in the next journal, let some of the less 'in touch' members know whats going on these days.
Nice work guys
