Anyone got a waterproof jacket they would recommend?

A friend from work has been doing long mountain bike rides and his altura jacket isnt up to the constant manchester rain so said id ask around for alternatives.
None of them are perfect despite the claims. The lightweight gore one Jerry got is pretty good - more of less 100% waterproof and not as hot as the cheap ones but pricey.

Any others?

My earlier revision of http://www.montane.co.uk/products/men/shell/velocity-dt-jacket/246 seems to be getting quite a bit of use of late!!

Can be found much cheaper than RRP and the best bike waterproof i've owned (and I've had a few!!).

+1, I picked a Montane DT from Evans' sale rail for £40 during July must admit its great for the money.

I don't think anything is perfect though, generally the breathability of even expensive waterproofs doesnt cope with the amount of sweat you put out, particularly when the tracks head upwards when you're offroading as you lose most of your air cooling

My endura stealth was one of the best bits of cycling kit I've ever bought. Totally waterproof at first although after 5/6 washes it needs re-proofing for this winter.
