Hi Everyone,

Just a quick question.

Have any of you ever advertised your Sportives through “Cycling Weekly”?
We have been informed if we put an advert in CW we will also get an advert in “Cycle Sport” and “Cycling Active” and 3 Months Online Directory Listing with a link to our website.

So, what I would like to know is this:
Would you think it’s worthwhile advertising our cycle sportive with CW etc?
Have any of you done it before?

I look forward to hearing from you all!
Many thanks,

Chris

We don't run a Sportive event. The main events that we do run are part of the official British racing calendar (CTT, BCF etc..) so they don't need advertising - just as well really, it's hard enough running them !

The magazines you mention are the most popular with road riders, so should be a good way to publicise. Cycling Weekly publish a Sportive Calendar each year via their website :
http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/439794/2010-cyclo-sportive-calendar.html so you should make sure your event gets included there. I don't believe there is an 'official' calendar as there is no governing body for Sportives. You could also try advertising on Bikeradar.com

The Sportive season is getting a little crowded now, however, so you may struggle to get as much interest as you're hoping for, especially if it's a new event. But good luck - it's certainly for a very worthy cause.
