Afternoon all,

As some of you may or may not know, there's a brand new crit circuit in East Manchester which is currently receiving the finishing surface. Link is here link What it means is that there will finally be a decent local crit circuit to race on during the week.

To get things moving as a club we've got involved along with some other local clubs to organise and run a series of 10 crit races every Tuesday night from 1st June. There will be junior & youth races as well as Cat 3/4 and E/1/2 racing so there's something for everyone.

Don't worry, we're not responsible for running all 10 races, only 2 of them, in return you will have some local crit racing that's close enough that you can ride out to it. We will need a few volunteers to help out on the night. Our events are being held on 29 June and 27 July. Anyone who would like to volunteer to help or ride, please let me know.

Me & Rothers visited the track last week and it looks great (although it didnt have the tarmac then), its floodlit (if required) and there's changing in the adjacent sports pavillion. Going forward there is probably the option for us to hire the track for training sessions or to run other races (much as we did at Darley Moor recently) if we wanted to. Its a good well designed circuit (the hairpin looks fairly tight in the photos, but its not as bad as it looks, its banked and there's a chicane which will slow things up a bit before people hit the hairpin) so it should make for some good racing.

Just to add to Nicks post, this really is a huge development for the area. I've ridden a lot of these circuits and have to say that the design of this one is up there with the best. Should make for some furious racing.
We'll get out of it what we put in, so if you can help out at any of the events, not just our own ones, let us know! Hopefully it will turn into a regular Tuesday night drop in for most of us!
Entries will be cheaper than most of the other circuit race leagues and there will be no registration fee.

One thing to add is that the Fallowfield loop ends around a mile or two away from the circuit and provides a mostly traffic free way of getting there from Central and south manchester!

You could get a day license as they are BC

Just following on from James post.

If you are not a BC member then there is a free bronze membership available via the clubs membership. Thus this reduces the annual cost of BC membership in your first year down to a more managable level.

http://new.britishcycling.org.uk/membership/article/mem-Membership-Prices-0

To apply for a full racing license at £32 a year you need Silver membership, with the first year offer you would pay £54.50 for Silver membership and a racing license.

The other option is that you apply for the free bronze membership and pay the day license fee depending on the event catergory. It is however much easier to enter events in advance with a full license and you will earn ranking points should you be good enough to hit the placings.

So for 54 quid 50 I could be all set and then all I need to do is enter the race and pay the entry fee?

Re Fallowfield Loop.......I commute along this during the week, it's alright, but not sure I'd want to risk my 'race' wheels/tyres though

The hairpin is banked a bit, I think it will become fondly known as the wall of death

Just a quick reminder, the start of the series has been put back by two weeks due to works on the car park and ( i believe changing facilities ). The two events have not been lost - just postponed till later in the year.

Therefore the 1st event will be on the 15.06.2010

http://tiny.cc/u1usz

Format for each week is :

Youth Only A, B, C Youth U16/U14/U12 20 mins + 5 laps 18:45 (£4.00)
Regional C+ 3rd, 4th Band 5 3/4 30 mins + 5 laps 19:15 (£8.00)
Regional C+ Elite, 1st, 2nd Band 5 E/1/2 45 mins + 5 laps 20:00 (£8.00)

If you do not have BC membership or a racing license, but want to take part you may enter on a day license for the commensurate fee.

If you have any questions then please post here or PM Nick or myself.
