Thanks to everyone who turned out today (all 4 of us for what was planned as a 30 mile intro in the spring sunshine but soon spiraled into a wintry 45 miler in desperate search for an open cafe. Hope I have more luck hunting for easter eggs this afternoon.

I had fun I need to get my hands on those gel things though as they've saved me twice now.

You can usually get lucozade ones from tesco sainos wherever or online like here

I've used them myself on long rides and sportives but would suggest fruit juice and water (50/50) in your bottle, bananas and flapjack to provide sustenance. Try to carry a gel tube or cereal bars etc for emergency use (emergencies like when the cafe has run out of cake)

You only get cake when you've assumed the Party Escort Submission Position.
