Well play has developed, side to side play, they're not really out of true much.

I serviced the front, found I needed a diffo size cone spanner than the rear, so went out and got some for like 12 quid at Harry Halls in desperation to fix my wheel. Well it's still buggered from what I can tell, the play keeps developing. There was not even that much dirt in the front hub too, looked pretty clean, but I cleaned it out, put new grease in it, but It's still rough as hell, I tried tightening it but play is still there. I'm getting sick of all these problems, my left pedal is also buggering up, making a creaking noise, it's pretty demotivating this is, I'm not battering the bike or not bothering cleaning it I don't get, I'd rather not have to buy new wheels tbh.

Any ideas? I have aksiums but they're madly out of true, seem to not perform as well as the R550's, and they're on my commuter and I'd rather not keep switching wheels around.

I demolished the rim on my front Askium on Tuesday night, worn out so a nice big strip peeled off under cornering! But it llasted 2 years and thousands of miles of commuting and winter riding and I never so much as touched the hub.
If you want the remnants you can have it, you may be able to salvage the hub or parts from it to sort your wheel out.

Thanks.

I'd not be able to put the hub on tbh, far too hard for me. On one side of my R550 wheels the wear indicator appears to be dissapearing indicating that Shimano thinks the rims are worn and want me to buy a new set, but the rims don't seem too concave to me?
