For anyone looking for a training session that isn’t weather dependant, I go to Circuit Training run by Manchester University Boat Club, rowing that is, not sailing.
Armitage Centre, Fallowfield.
Tuesday 6-7pm
Thursday 7-8pm
It’s supervised by a woman who has been coaching rowing for GB for a long time and the sessions are run by some current and ex rowers.
£10 for all the remaining sessions this year (14), last one is March 25th as its not run over Easter hols (they’ll be in France training) and the racing calendar after that puts an end to the sessions.
The main focus is on the quads with core and a bit of upper body as well, if you fancy coming along and trying it feel free, tell the instructors your from The Wheelers to try it out and if you like it just ask who the treasurer is and hand your money over.
I’m currently sat at my desk with very sore legs after last nights session, wondering if I can avoid using the stairs for the rest day.
