Rochdale - Settle - Kirkby Lonsdale - Lancaster - Blackburn - Rochdale

It's 10 miles to/from the start for me, so that'll be .... errrr .... 151 miles for me that day - just 9 miles short of Flanders, hillier too.

I'm entered in this, hope to get further than Settle last year where my shifter blew up! Surprisingly few trains from Settle to Leeds at lunchtime on a Saturday...

... but Settle is a fine place to be stranded, no!? If you get stuck give me a bell and I'll signpost you to my (folk's) house for a brew.

Ahh my mum's from (near) Settle.

It was a magnificent ride today, so cold up on th'hills that I had ice crystals form on my eyelashes, and my bottles froze solid.

131 miles, 2000m of climbing, 10h3m which is a whole heap better than a month ago. First 85 miles in 5h42m which suggests I suck at longer distances.

Miles were you there?

Did it in just under 10 hours. Had to stop and wait a couple of times for people who knew the way as route sheet was c**p but it was my own fault for ending up in Bury. People didn't seem to want to work togther in bunches but I managed to draft another rider for some sections. Felt Ok at the end of my first 200 but diidn't realise how cold I was getting and was shivering in the car all the way home with the heater blasting on full. Only six weeks to go to ToF and am seriously wondering if I can survive the climbs in the last 50k. Nice scenic ride though and some great cafe stops that I'll have to get back to one day.

heh heh I wonder if I was one of the anti-social riders Paul? I was in a foul mood towards the end, in no mood for human companionship and I "let" a few riders move on while I stopped for a wee etc. I'm sure you'll be fine in Flanders, though, coz there's thousands of riders to ride with, the hills are mere pimples compared to some of the stuff you did yesterday - and it's Flanders!

Unfortunately no.

Some new info come to light about my back and hip problems so off bike at the moment while investigated. Rubbish. Comfort eating and getting bored and fat (well relatively speaking!) in the meantime.

I don't seem to have a lot of luck with this ride, hope to repeat sometime.
