For the new TT bike Nick?

Try some of the smalller bike shops, my LBS often has stuff like that kicking around. There seem to be several sets on Ebay currently too.

Yep, can use 'em in friction shift on the Campag mech I've got (Campag Record shifters are a bit too expensive for what is supposed to be a cheap build). DA 9 spds work out cheaper than the Dia Compes as they come with cables, outers and cable stop bosses.

Seen some new ones online at a reasonable price, but just checking before I take the plunge

Nick, I think I've got a pair of 8 or 9 speed D/A shifters kicking about. Let me have a rummage around in the bottom of the tool box tonight and I'll let you know.

How you getting on with those Mavic bars? I'm thinking of changing the current ski bend base bar on the TT bike to a completly flat one so may also have that up for grabs...... (31.8mm though) oh and i've a Race Face Deus shallow riser bar (also 31.8) that is nearly new from the MTB if you know anyone who wants that......... and a pair of Cinelli Pista track bars on a quill stem!!

Think I should do a sort out and get everything listed!!!

Nice one Si 8 spds would do the trick too. I've been accumulating parts to build it but now have everything bar the shifters and a seat pin (which I've just not got round to ordering yet). Build time is compounded by the fact I have taken the opportunity to buy a few slightly higher spec bits (brake calipers, rear mech, chainset) which I'm going to put on my road bike and swap the older bits on to the TT frame.

The bars do look pretty low, was planning on just building it and see how it is, just as long as I can get it round corners!

The latest DA 10 speeds (although often advertised as running in friction) don't run in friction for the rear mech. So you need either the older 10 speed (DA 7800), 9 speeds (7700) or 8 speeds, as I think all of these should have sufficient pull for a rear mech given 8, 9 or 10 spd Shimano cassettes all fit the same freehub.
