Another non-bike related post.... a bit of variety is good right!?

Anybody fancy going to the Manchester showing of the Banff Mountain Film Festival on Saturday Feb 13th? http://www.banff-uk.com

The line up looks brilliant. I'll be picking up some tickets for me and a couple of mates next week so if you want one let me know and I'll get some more.

Tom, you said you might be interetsed, you free?

That looks proper scary! I can see why the climbers are wearing dark coloured trousers.

I'm keen - I have already passed the link on to my mother, who is going to see it in Cardigan (and has a job interview at the theatre as a result. She sends her thanks, Becks) - though I need to catch up with Mrs Tom to see if she fancies it as well. I'll let you know about tix.

A mate of mine rode the trans rockies challenge mtb race a couple of years ago and made good friends with a chap called crazy larry :

Turns out he was running for the mayor of Banff.. Top chap - makes baloon animals and hides them around the course of all sorts of events!

I'm tempted to see if he's in the film!

I'm definately wanting to go to this.

So Becks, I'm keen to take up your offer thanks. Alternatively, I can just buy a ticket online, but are the tickets for numbered seats, i.e. is there any advantage in you getting me a ticket so that we're all sitting together ?

Really!? Ha ha! That's cool.

Ben, yep it's allocated seating so makes sense to make a block booking. I walk past the Dancehouse on my way home from work so can easily drop in next week. Is it just one ticket you want?

Tom, I'll wait to hear back from you before I book.

Anyone else?

Ben, got your ticket and a couple for you too Tom..... shall we just meet up somewhere for drinks before hand and sort everything out then?

For anyone else interested, Dancehouse have about 40 tickets left but they're going pretty quickly apparently...

Hi Becks,

Sorry I've not been in contact since the track-night. Thanks again for getting me a ticket.

It'll be nice to meet up for a drink before. The Lass 'O Gowry is very close, but I don't mind where to be honest.

So is the itinery for the event - Saturday 13th 19:30 onwards ? Do you know how long it lasts ?

OK, peeps, so I can't make this any more.

Does anyone want the two tickets I have? Don't need to pay full price - a donation is fine.

Post up here or email me if you want them.

Cheers

Tom

I'll be in Kro2 from about 6 o'clock ... meet you in there? Not sure how long it lasts, sorry.

Any takers for the other two Tom? I'll ask around.

Thanks very much to Becks for getting us to come along, and to Tom for selling his tickets cheap to a couple of friends who tagged along.

The films were stunning, all very different from each other, and unforgettable. Clearly the world of extreme sports is ever advancing to levels you can't really imagine ! (solo free-climb up Half Dome anyone ?)

The cycling film was first up. It was basically a load of extreme north-shore/berm type trails that some guys had built in a forest (proper Ewok village style !).

I couldn't work out how they'd filmed it, and can only guess they had a camera being pulled along a wire to follow the bikes through the trees.

And one of the north-shore corners was so tight it actually doubled back on itself vertically like half a loop-the-loop on a rollercoaster.

Bonkers - all of it.............

Yeah it was a great line up.

I found it really hard to process the McAuley and Honnold films side by side and have no idea where the boundaries lay between selfish, unhinged, awesome and inspired!
