i can beat that 15 mile commute at 7.30am Prestwich to Manchester Airport. To top it all the boilers at work weretn working and i had to have a cold shower when i got in.
Had a surreal moment on princess parkway, me on my mountain bike on the outside lane overtaking the cars and having a chat with a chap on the inside lane about how treacherous it was.
Should have worn my wheelers jacket boink

2 hours to drive 5.8 miles to Manchester Uni from Prestwich by car. Chapeau to the 2 cyclists who passed me.

And coz you stopped to chat to me. She was a blurr of flying crampons and snow folks! Agree that walking or running is way to go, I walked out from picadilly to near the velodrome where I'm out on site at the moment, thought about getting off bus at fallowfield when on way into picadilly and just walking from there! Reckon I may end up just walking home. Was maybe planning on going to the SQT at velodrome if I get away from work ok though! So a 2 hr SQT then a 2 hour walk home in the snow would be a nice evening training...

I think riding might be pretty awesome in this weather to be honest. The cross bike is coming out again for my short ride to Wythenshawe tonight although I might dig out my lights and take a little detour!

Cool! Nice work Si. I dont see the point in driving if you can at all avoid it today. Not possible for everyone to walk/ride though i realise.

Here are some photos from my commute: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vivslack/sets/72157623143812246/

Looking forward to lunch time so i can play out

Took me nearly 3 hours to dig the cars out of the secure car park at the back of the flats today.... At least they are out now! Otherwise they would have been iced in for the next few days..
This is going to be one hell of a thaw!

Got the next couple of days off due to snow, shame I've only got 23mm skinnies to the bike. No way I'm riding in this...

Today's tool for the snowy commute - my old Kona singlespeeded (33x16) with a nice soft 2.3" tyre on the front. Ace fun, but too effective for getting into work. Can I ride it home now please..?!
