What ???[/b] I cannot believe, no I really cannot believe that Reg Harris is not in this list. I have only been following cycle sport since the early sixties and do not by any manner or means claim to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of it, but there are names in there that promote the reaction "Who he / she?" If you were to ask a cross reference of the nation for names of famous riders, they might recall Sir Chris Hoy, now most probably due to his repeated TV adverts for breakfast cereal, but Beryl Burton and RH have got to be up at the top of anyone's list. I am seriously disappointed with the panel's glaring omission.

A Hall of Fame selection panel, consisting of cycling journalists and British Cycling representatives, met in late November. They began by deciding unanimously to focus on past cycling achievements rather than contemporary cycling successes and to make the first Hall of Fame a tribute to the past five decades.
I suppose that his the majority of his achievements predate the above criteria and the BC era Ken. Such a shame that he the title he won in the 70's was overlooked......

I was in “spitting feathers” mode when I sent in my first missive on this subject and on re-reading it this morning it occurred to me that it might look as if I was damning Sir Chris Hoy with faint praise for my comment citing his TV advert. I apologize for that - it was the very last thing I intended and did not for one moment seek to diminish his inspirational achievements. Sometime in the near future he will surely and deservedly be inducted into this exclusive group. To join Reg Harris. I had obviously not taken into account the words “over the past five decades” which does therefore exclude our illustrious former club member. However I believe that the panel should in no way have set their parameters so as to exclude such a great champion. How could they do that ??? Let’s not forget that Reg did not have the benefit of the experience and in-depth team backing that his foreign rivals could rely on. In fact some of the time he did not even have the backing of his own national cycling body!!! As Rothers points out the fact that he made a come-back to take the sprint title should have ensured his inclusion; Reg was then in his fifties and overcame a rider who was roughly half his age. There are eight names on the list that meant nothing to me, leaving me to ‘Google’ for them. I repeat: I am seriously disappointed with the panel's glaring omission
