We have recently been discussing how we can get more of the women that have enquired or joined over the last years out riding. Based on the feedback, we are hoping to arrange dates for the following between now and christmas, more to events to follow in the new year:
- at least one womens only intro ride with cafe stop, likely to be Saturday - a trip to llandegla for some easy mountain biking - a lunch or evening social
All wheelers rides and events are open to women so of course you are welcome to join in any of the intro or general rides. These women specific events are purely to encourage those that are still nervous to come out and get involved. The recent poll we did suggested there are still at least 13 interested so there is definitely a demand, all that is stopping us is finding time to organise events and lead rides so if you can help please let us know.
Bike Right womens rides
In addition, bike right is also organising some womens only rides on the last sunday of each month leading up to some events early next season. These look like a great way to meet other women to ride with and get prepared for next season.

Also results of the polls...
Are you still interested in riding with Manchester Wheelers?
YES - 13; No - 1; MAYBE - 2.
When do you want to ride?
SATURDAY - 13; SUNDAY - 10; MONDAY - 6; TUESDAY - 7; WEDNESDAY - 6; THURSDAY - 7.
What type of rides should we offer?
WEEKEND ON ROAD - 12; WEEKEND OFF ROAD - 6; EVENINGS ON ROAD - 10; EVENINGS OFF ROAD - 3; WEEKDAY EVENINGS - 9.
Two interesting things for me were... - more prefered a Saturday than a Sunday. This is definitely possible though the roads can be busier. - there was quite a bit of interest in indoor sessions mid week. A few options have been discussed for this already. I have also had another suggestion from Catrin for this so we will look at getting this sorted asap. edited by viv on 02/11/2009

Viv, These Wheelers girl rides; are they going "women only!" rides? I'd like to introduce the mrs to group riding but doubt she would be up for it without my presence and don't think she would be up for a standard intro ride.
cheers

Theyre meant to encourage women to ride, if that means bringing you along then thats fine. Others are welcome as long as theres strictly no pushing the pace up or showing off!

I suggested that, I think she said "over my dead body"
Will probably try and drag her out when she's got over her current bout of flu. She has a shiny new bike sat in the garage that hasn't yet been ridden further than sainsbury's.
