Great to hear it went well again. Think its a good time to big up Nick and Rothers who have put a lot of effort in doing the commissionaires course and making these events happen. Its a pretty big deal and the fact its already so popular is something to be really proud of.

Definitely need a round up in the next journal, let some of the less 'in touch' members know whats going on these days.

Nice work guys

If you've already taken the plunge then don't read ahead;

The allez 16 and secteur triple are both in Edinburgh Bicycle for 399! I went for the secteur as I personally preferred the geometry though that was on a little spin from the shop (not taken delivery yet)

Alternatively the Revolution continental sport is on for 425 and although the frame is a little more generic it comes with a carbon fork and better equipment, I was almost swayed by the sora brifters but am not a big fan of the wheels EBC use on their lower end bikes.

Then again for a novice like you or me, Shimano 2300 is pretty much fine and a much nicer alternative than recking expensive gear due to bad use/maintainance.

Big Thanks to Mark L ( King of the bike checks ) and Mike C for coming down last night. Despite the early showers we still had more than 50 riders at the event, including the riding debut of a certain former presidents son - would you be'leigh've it young Andrew would have picked up points in his first race had he applied for a bc licence- more competition for Max and Sam maybe ? The floodlights came into their own and whilst it was not perfect for judging the feedback from those riding was that it was safe even at speed.

There are 3 more events to go with the official opening of the circuit being held on the 22nd September with members of the co funders British cycling and Tameside council in attendance - also rumours of a couple of Sky Pro's making it down too. Once i have more details i'll post them up on here.

On a seperate note can i just thank everyone who has made it down to Ashton during the year. We've had some great results from our own riders who've shown great improvements during the year, and i've been even more proud of those taking the time out to come down and marshall / bike check / assist with running the events. The series really has taken off in terms of numbers and I can only hope next year brings more of the same.

Thanks again!

I can't believe that the Uni doesn't provide secure bike storage.

You might try posting an ad locally or approaching some of the local businesses to see if anyone has a secure carpark or similar that they would 'rent' you a spot to lock it up.

Otherwise, maybe get a cheap folder with a carry case and take it with you.
