Yes I admit I was abit shocked having to shell out extra for decent maps but it's only 25 quid.
I was wondering if it is possible that the Edge 605/705 can recognise one way roads and other things like closed roads but it does not look like it, see when I cycled back home I was faced with a closed road near Huddersfield but lukilly it had a footpath, if it did not I'd not be able to get through and have lost my way.

Has he put this on the Singletrack forum? He ought to get a good response from there (being home of bearded-one-gear riders).

From the house of Penketh Cycles.....
Powertap SL wired hub. Comes complete with headunit, case, heart rate chest strap and all other accessories. Includes a free copy of "Training and Racing with a power meter" by Coggan and Allen. Excellent condition. £450 or I can build it into a Mavic Open Pro rim for £50 extra. Get into training with power and reap the benefits.

My 705 came as part of a bundle including the European City Navigator on micro SD card. I gather you can also buy the detail maps on DVD and upload into garmin connect/motion-based etc, but I had no need. It's a bit of a nasty shock, being faced with shelling out a further £60 in order to make the device useful for navigating (ie - the main reason for buying it over the much cheaper 305)!

Ant, if you get really stuck, I use Delta cleats and have a spare set that you could always borrow...

Tijl - I certainly plan to go riding on Saturday, although share Viv's fear of Stan!
I'll pack a pedal spanner.
At some point this week I must actually get my bike and bags ready....

just discussed the rental bikes with the people from the track in Ghent: if you want to go clipless, you have to bring your own pedals and shoes (or at least the tool to get them off the bike you're bringing)
for Saturday's ride (if people are not too hung-over and still want to go cycling): Stan has something in mind including Berendries, Bosberg and Muur/Kapelmuur in Geraardsbergen (leaving from the hotel in Ghent).

Bit old topic I know.
But just wondered have you updated your map with something like City Navigator? The standard map seemed very basic and really not useful to me.

I wouldnt after seeing the Locomotiv pursuit team crash followed by Jason Kenny's slide over the line in the sprint at the World Cup - ouch!
The latest velodrome flyer (handily pinned up over my desk) says shoes are available to hire at £3.50 (plus deposit), bring your own shoes require Look Delta cleats (and also free of mud and grime) as Jerry says. Website mentions cleat adapters for other types??? - I wouldnt count on this though

If you're borrowing one of the hire bikes you'll shoes with Look Delta cleats too. They used to hire shoes out but I'm not certain so I'd check first.
Would you really ride around there without a helmet on?

Yep. And track mitts/gloves. And before Stuart pipes up, clothes etc
Sure someone can lend you one if you dont own one - i cant imagine riding anywhere without one personally.

Maybe check you haven't got a medical condition first...and if not then feel the pain like the rest of us in the knowledge you're not about to keel over. You should get some advice if you're concerned though.
