We've been sent the info below:

17th & sunday 18th june

I’m writing to let you know about the 2017 Horwich Festival of Racing – a great weekend of sport with running, cycling, race walking, triathlon, orienteering and unicycle races. Most events are staged on a traffic free road circuit in the centre of Horwich near Bolton. There are events for all ages and levels of ability including a mass fun cycle ride, fancy dress fun run, the British Masters 5K Running and Race Walking Championships, open 5k road race, youth cycle races, sprint orienteering, a sprint triathlon, British National Unicycle Road Race and an elite level cycling Grand Prix on Saturday evening.

One of the most popular racing festivals in the North of England, Horwich features a one mile circuit in the centre of town with a great selection of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops to sample while you’re here. It’s a really enjoyable weekend for participants and spectators alike, so why not visit Horwich this June, test yourself over this excellent circuit and enjoy a great day out or a weekend away with family and friends in one of the North West’s most picturesque areas.

For more information and on-line entry, visit the 2017 Horwich Festival of Racing website  http://www.horwichfestivalofracing.co.uk/

Look forward to seeing you this June

k, do you wanna aim to be going through Littleborough at 10 then and we'll get the 8.37 train from stocky which gets in at 9.54? we've got 30 mins to make it from Piccadilly to Victoria too rich so could grab a coffee in the station.

Always space for a couple of extras as it means no one ends up on their own.
So we have:

Matt
Chris
Charles D
Richard
Ruth

Thanks everyone see as many of you as poss at 6pm on Tuesday and some bit later I imagine

Cool. I'm easy in terms of start time, if people want to get back early then I'm happy to start early. Obviously there's always the option of jumping on the train at Hebden if pushed for time.

yep, no problem. with trains back and a cafe stop i'm thinking dependent on what time we get there in the morning it's more likely to be 4ish.

I have to say i'm already leaning towards the shorter version! I'm keen for a good day out though so just need to get permission from the boss lady. What time do we reckon we'll be back? 3ish? I might drive to yours holly if thats ok? I think resting on the train then having to ride up to hayfield will kill me. Cheers

Apart from the people who were too chicken to sign up for it in the first place - that's the ultimate get out clause. CHICKEN.

At Rapha on Thursday there is a long distance cycling talk being hosted by Emily Chappell and guest Kasja Tylen (just broke world record for cycling most miles in a year).

tickets here - http://theadventuresyndicate.com/events/2017/3/10/long-distance-ladies-manchester-making-it-happen

it's women specific but not women exclusive so men are welcome to come along. i'm going to learn and ask about transcon stuff but if anyone else is considering a long distance event i would advise coming, it'll be a great discussion with some helpful things aired and questions asked. Maybe go for a beer/coffee and chat after?

ok, i made a route. it's 85 miles, i miss estimated! but if we sack off bacup at the end then it's 73, giving a nice get out clause, as lovely as bacup is....

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19861482 - shorter

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19861364 - longer inc gorgeous bacup

Hi everyone,

A member at the gym that I teach at is helping to organise a new sportive in the North West which is running to support the Seashell Trust.

The Seashell Trust is a charity dedicated to providing a creative, happy and secure environment for children and adults with complex/severe disabilities which include little or no language abilities.

If you enjoy riding sportives, please take a look at this to see if it is something you are interested in. The routes vary, all with some climbing, with 70km, 100km and 170km signposted routes (and gpx files) available.

http://www.seashelltrustsportive.org.uk/

Cheers,
Chelsea
